New Voice. New Ideas. New Direction.
Like many younger Des Moines residents, Ethan is an Iowa transplant. He grew up in rural Illinois before moving to Iowa in 2009 to attend Iowa State University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Community & Regional Planning. After graduation, he quickly found his way to Des Moines.
He has been actively involved in several neighborhood revitalization efforts during his time in Des Moines, including the Viva East Bank, Friends of SW 9th, and Douglas Avenue Coalition neighborhood groups. He has also served on the city's Neighborhood Revitalization Board and on the Board of Directors for the Neighborhood Development Corporation.
Ethan and his wife Amber moved out of their downtown apartment in 2015 and purchased a home in the Waveland Park neighborhood, where they now reside with their son Griffin. He currently serves as President of the Waveland Park Neighborhood Association and recently obtained his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Drake University.
