Des Moines Register Endorses Ethan Standard

We are excited to have earned the endorsement of the Des Moines Register's Editorial Board! Here's what they had to say:

"It would be difficult to find a 28-year-old who knows more about city infrastructure, spending and planning than Standard. He graduated from Iowa State University and recently earned a master’s degree from Drake. His impressive understanding of city operations and projects demonstrates a dedication to government and his community. "

"Standard said infrastructure is his biggest priority and suggested the city should re-examine its capital improvement program to dedicate more resources to neighborhoods. He's already an asset to the city and has great promise as a council member. "

Ethan Standard Running for City Council

Des Moines could soon have a new voice in City Hall. Waveland Park resident Ethan Standard, 28, has announced his candidacy for the Des Moines City Council At-Large seat.

Ethan is a graduate of Iowa State University’s Community & Regional Planning program and recently obtained his Master’s degree in Public Administration from Drake University. He has served on the City of Des Moines Neighborhood Revitalization Board, sat on the board of directors for Neighborhood Development Corporation, and currently serves as the President of the Waveland Park Neighborhood Association.

Ethan will work to ensure that Des Moines is a city of thriving neighborhoods and vibrant corridors by introducing new ideas for improving our aging infrastructure and transportation network, engaging our city’s youth, and investing in our established neighborhoods.

A formal campaign kickoff event is scheduled for Thursday August 1st at 6:00 PM at Tower Park, 4900 Hickman Road. This event is free and all are welcome.
